LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Siyan Liu from Beijing, China was one over par standing on the 8th tee box and no where near the top of the leaderboard. He then birdied 8 of his last 11 holes for a 6-under par 65 on the West course at Fountains CC and a one shot win over Sunny Kim.
His 3rd win on the MLGT was worth $820 raising his career earnings to $10,270. Kim earned $580 from the $3,400 purse plus $223 from the optional bonus pool for a total of $803.
Corey Eisenband and Ricardo Celia tied for 3rd at 67. Celia was 7-under par on the final hole and leading by one but an unfortunate triple bogey dropped him down to a tie for 3rd.
Today's event was the 5th "59 Challenge" the MLGT has run. The course was setup at 5,800 yards with all the par 5's and multiple par 4's reachable. A $1k bonus was up for grabs for any players that could break 60. None did this time but the 6th attempt at this challenge will be on the schedule soon.
Next on the schedule is a 36 hole event at Osprey Point in Boca Raton on Wed/Thurs.
