WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - After three weather delays that totalled more than four hours, play was called for the day and four men were declared co-champions. Austin Hitt, Beau Titsworth, Brett Stegmaier and Raoul Menard were deadlocked at 9-under par through 31 holes when darkness set in.
MLGT policy states that if more than half of the scheduled starting holes are completed the event is official and however many holes the final group completes will count for the event. In this case the final group finished 13 holes of the final round when Mother Nature would not let anymore golf be played making the event 31 holes (par 121).
The four men each earned $1,420 from the $10,200 purse. Hitt, Stegmaier and Menard added $390.34 from the optional bonus pool and Titsworth and Menard added skin money to their totals.
These four men also tied for the win in Qualifying School Contest #5 presented by Britto & Herman Injury Lawyers. The $5k bonus was split evenly so they each earned $1,250 to put towards their Q-School entry fee.
A big thank you to PGA National for hosting and Britto & Herman Injury Lawyers for sponsoring the event.
In a second day shootout Tuesday among players who shot 69 or higher Monday, Evan Katz won $214 with a final round score of 46 (4-under par).
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Neither Austin Hitt from Longwood, FL or Beau Titsworth from St Petersburg, FL made a bogey during the opening round at the Estate course at PGA National. They matched 7-under par 64's and will enter the final round two clear of the field.
22 of the 33 players chose to enter Qualifying School Contest #5 presented by Britto & Herman Injury Lawyers. The winner will receive a $5k bonus to put towards their Q-School entry fee.
There were four skins out worth $90 each. Click on any of the $ symbols under the skins/total tab to view the skins results.
There is an optional $50 2nd day shootout for players at 69 and higher. 100% of the entry goes into the purse and the top 33% and ties will earn a check. If you'd like to participate you must sign up and pay online before the first tee time on Tuesday.
