LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Brett Stegmaier from Hamden, CT birdied the 17th hole to take a one shot lead over the field which is where he would finish. After going out in 31 he bogied the par-5 12th but bounced back with birdies on 15 and 17 for a 5-under par 66 on the West course at Fountains CC. He earned $1,217 for his 14th win on the MLGT.
Aman Gupta, Michael Sweeney and Dawson Jones tied for 2nd one shot behind Stegmaier. Last week Sweeney was medalist in his first stage site for PGA Tour Q-School. He's trying to stay sharp until he heads off to second stage next month.
Today's event was the first of three this week that make up 2023 Monday Qualifier Contest #5 presented by Abacoa Golf Club. The player with the lowest cumulative score for the three events wins a $1k bonus to go compete in a Monday Qualifier on the PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour.
