PALM BEAGH GARDENS, Fla. – Vaughn Snyder of West Palm Beach and Massillon, Ohio, was awarded his sixth victory on the Fuzion-Minor League Golf Tour Tuesday when Stephen Grant of Palm Beach Gardens was unable to return to the course in time for a playoff due to a prior commitment.
Snyder and Grant each posted five under par 67 on the Estate course at PGA National earlier in the day, then left. Only Snyder was able to get back in time for the playoff. Snyder received $1,000, Grant $680, from the $8,004 purse. Grant has two career MLGT titles.
In regulation, Snyder eagled the par-5 fifth hole and added five birdies and two bogeys. Grant took an eight at the par-5 ninth to turn in 39, then played the back nine in spectacular fashion with eight birdies and a par-4 at the 11th hole for 28
Martin Catalioto of Ramsey, NJ tied for third with PGA Tour veteran and Nationwide Tour winner Brad Adamonis of Cumberland, RI at four-under par 68. Craig Lindsey of Vero Beach, FL, David M. Smith of Ruston, LA, Matt Springer of Gary, IN and Matt Torrance from East Lyme, CT finished in a four way tie for fifth after shooting 3-under par 69.
The MLGT’s third tournament of its eighth season drew 69 starters. The next event will be played Thursday at The Evergreen Club in Palm City.
There was $400 in the skins pot with 2 skins out worth $200 each.
