LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Bobby Collins of Palm Beach Gardens fired a four under 68 on the South course at Fountains Country Club Friday for his seventh victory on the Fuzion-Minor League Golf Tour. He made five birdies after a bogey at the par-5 fifth hole, at Nos. 6, 8, 12, 12 and 15, and earn $600 from the $2,430 purse.
It was his third MLGT win in the last nine days, including the match play championship at Indian Spring CC which ended Aug. 18 and an 18-hole event Wednesday on Fountains’ West course here. Winning three times in 14 days is worth a $1,000 bonus to be applied toward entry and expenses in a Monday qualifier on the Nationwide Tour.
Six players tied for second place, 2 shots behind Collins at 2-under par 70.
The MLGT resumes next week: Monday, Wanderers Club, Wellington, and Wednesday-Thursday on the Rees Jones course at Breakers West, West Palm Beach.
There was $90 in the skins pot with 3 skins out worth $30 each.
