BOCA RATON, Fla. - Angelo Giantsopoulos from Philadelphia, PA had a roller coaster of a day en route to his 3rd win on the MLGT. He started out on fire making 6 birdies on his opening nine to go out in 30. He cooled off with 8 pars and a bogey on his final nine holes. His 5-under par 66 landed him in a playoff with Carson Klawonn and talented 16 year old Giuseppe Puebla. On the first playoff hole, Puebla would hit his approach shot to 4 feet right before Angelo missed the green. Giantsopoulos chipped in for birdie then watched Giuseppe make the short birdie putt to extend. Klawonn would be eliminated with a par on the first extra hole. The two men tied the second with pars and went to the difficult par-4 3rd. Puebla's tee shot found the waste area which led to a long 3rd shot. Angelo hit his long iron 2nd shot on the green some 60 feet away. Puebla would miss his par attempt from 15 feet and Angelo made his 6 foot par putt for the win.
Giantsopoulos earned $1,000 from the $5,740 purse. Klawonn and Puela each earned $650 for the tie for 2nd. Klawonn added $232 from the bonus pool for a total of $882.
Next on the schedule is a 18 hole event at Palm Beach Par 3 on Monday followed by Major III on the Champ course at PGA National on Wed-Thurs.
