PALM CITY, Fla. - Michael Sweeney from Enfield, CT fired 136 (67-69) to win 2025 Qualifying School Contest #5 at Banyan Creek Golf Club.
Sweeney started the final round with a one shot lead over Brett Stegmaier and Willy Pumarol and never looked back. Sweeney went out in 33 then added birdies at 10 and 11. At that point he had a three shot lead. He would make bogies at 12 and 13 to fall back to just one ahead. Nicklas Staub rallied with an eagle on the 10th and a birdie on 17 to tie Sweeney but Staub would go on to bogey the last to finish one behind. Willy Pumarol also got within one and had a long birdie look at the last to force a playoff that did a 180 degree lipout.
