PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Chase Koepka from West Palm Beach, FL, fired a 5-under par 67 Monday on the Fazio Course at PGA National Resort and Spa to win for the 6th time on the Minor League Golf Tour.
Koepka overcame a bogey on the par five 4th hole with 6 birdies and earned $850 from the $4,790 purse plus $210 from the optional bonus pool. He also won 2 skins worth $72 each for a total of $1,204.
Chase has now won 6 times in just 10 starts on the Minor League Golf Tour. His older brother Brooks had an impressive MLGT win percentage winning 4 of the 8 MLGT events he played. Brooks went on to be a PGA Tour star and 2016 Ryder Cup participant. Chase is trying to follow in his footsteps.
Tied for 2nd at 3-under par 69 were Colin Neeman from Waterloo, IL and Denny McCarthy from Rockville, MD. Both had a good chance to tie Koepka but Neeman bogied his final hole and McCarthy double bogied his final hole.
The MLGT's 108th event of the year drew 35 starters. Next on the schedule: Tuesday at the Estates course at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Thursday at Martin Downs Country Club in Palm City and a rare weekend event Sunday 12/11 at North Palm Beach CC in North Palm Beach.
