LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Billy Walthouse of Longmeadow, MA, must like the West course at Fountains Country Club. He has won twice since joining the Minor League Golf Tour last November, both times at Fountains-West, a 36-hole tournament right after Thanksgiving with a pair of 67's and Monday by a stroke on a seven under par 64. He birdied Nos. 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 12 and 17. He did not have a bogey.
Walthouse collected $1,000 from the $6,045 purse and an additional $223 from an optional bonus pool, raising his career earnings to $19,556.
Tied for second among 44 starters were Brant Peaper of Tequesta, FL on eight birdies and two bogeys and Brad Gehl of Carmel, IN, seven birdies and one bogey.
The MLGT's 2nd Qualifying School Contest of 2019 starts in just 7 days. It will be a 2-day event staged at The Fox Club Monday-Tuesday March 18-19. The entry fee is $440 with 40% of the field earning a check. The Contest portion is optional and is an extra $200.
