LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Sunny Kim of Queens, NY, enhanced his position atop both the 2020 and career money lists on the Minor League Golf Tour with a three-stroke victory Thursday at The Falls Club.
Kim fired a nine under par 63 for his 70th win. He made seven birdies before closing with an eagle at the par-5 18th hole, earning $1,000 from the $4,705 purse and another $120 from the skins game. This boosted Kim’s totals to $16,335 this year and $284,949 since he joined the MLGT in October, 2006.
Jon Curran of Jupiter, FL was second with 66 on seven birdies and a bogey, collecting $810.
Lexi Thompson, one of the top American players on the LPGA tour, shot 69 to tie for seventh, receiving $325. She won her first ever professional golf tournament on the MLGT in 2011 at the age of 16 on her then home course, Eagle Trace in Coral Springs.
The MLGT’s 49th tournament of the year drew 39 starters. Next week’s schedule: Monday-Tuesday, Plantation Preserve, Plantation, and Thursday, Atlantic National GC, Lake Worth.
