BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Dominic Carrera (a) from Lighthouse Point, FL had a roller coaster of emotions to earn his first win on the MLGT. He came to the 18th hole with a 2 shot lead and watched his 2nd shot find the out of bounds left of the green. He then made a great up and down from the greenside bunker for double bogey to finish with 67 and would head to extra holes with Paul Pastore. Pastore's tee shot found the water left on the par-5 first hole. After dropping Pastore was in front of the green in 3. Carrera hit his 2nd just in front of the green as well. Carrera chipped it 15 feet past the hole while Patore chipped it 4 feet short of the hole. Carrera's putt for the win slid by leaving Paul's 4 foot putt for par to extend the playoff. Pastore's par putt lipped out giving Carrera the win.
First place was $1,150 but Carrera is an amateur so the maximum he is allowed to accept is $1,000 per USGA rules. The remaining $150 was distributed throughout the rest of the players that earned a check. Pastore earned $705 for the 2nd place finish plus $200 in the bonus pool for a total of $905.
Two team events remain to close out the year. Tomorrow at Atlantis CC and Thursday at Palm Beach Par 3.
