ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. – Zac Oakley of Palm City birdied the third playoff hole from three feet Friday at the Links at Madison Green to earn his fourth victory on the Minor League Golf Tour, his first this year.

After they tied at four under par 68, Oakley outlasted Alexis Thompson, the teenage sensation from Coral Springs who parred all three playoff holes, and Canadian Alexandre Ouellette, who bogeyed the first extra hole, missing par from four feet. Since 2008 the ladies on the MLGT play from 94% of the yardage played by the men.

In regulation, Oakley opened with 11 pars, then birdied four of the last seven; Thompson had five birdies and a bogey; and Ouellette made seven birdies and three bogeys. Thompson won on the MLGT Feb. 21. Ouellette is still looking for his first win. All three had three straight birdies, Thompson at 11, 12 and 13; Oakley 12, 13 and 14; and Ouellette 13, 14 and 15. Oakley and Ouellette also birdied No. 18.

The MLGT’s 32nd tournament of the year 40 players and paid a $4,720 purse, $950 of which went to Oakley.

Derrick Bohannon offically captured the $4,500 Q-School Contest 2 bonus by finishing just over $1,300 ahead of Nick Bova and Ben Silverman. Tim Turpen was fourth and Chris Damiano, who finished fifth in Q-School Contest 1, finished in the same position in this contest.

Next on the MLGT schedule: Monday at Binks Forest GC, followed by Tuesday at Abacoa GC and Thursday at President CC. The 3 single day events can also be played as a cumulative 3-Day event. A player must play all three one-day $190 events March 28, 29 & 31 to be eligible and 100% of $150 cumulative 3-Day entry will be placed into separate purse. The usual 50% of field MLGT payout will be based upon total of all three scores from the three 1-day events.

There was $220 in the skins pot with 5 skins out worth $44 each.
